Re-Use of Syringes Violates the Standard of Care and Cause for Action by the Board of Nursing
October 8th, 2015
An LPN who re-used syringes when administering the flu vaccine to employees of a West Windsor company has entered in a Consent Order of suspension of her license with the New Jersey Board of Nursing. The Order provides that she inoculated 67 employees using just two single-use syringes. In addition, the injections contained an inadequate dosing of the vaccine. The basis for the suspension is that if the Board were to prove this LPN's actions, they would constitute gross negligence, malpractices or incompetence and professional misconduct.
